Anti-dumping Investigation Against Imported Chemicals

China announced Tuesday it would start an anti-dumping investigation against imports catechol, a chemical used in making dyes and paint, produced in the United States and Japan.

Chinese Ministry of Commerce said in an announcement that it would scrutinize whether the imported products from the areas constitute dumping, and if so would confirm the scope of dumping.

The investigation should conclude before May 31, 2006, but may extend until Nov. 30, 2006 under certain conditions, according to the announcement.
