The 2005 Fortune Global Forum has been profitable for Beijing, Senior Vice President Peter Wolf for international affairs of Time-Warner Group said in Beijing Wednesday.
He made the remark at a press conference after the conclusion of the forum.
The revenue mainly comes from fees of sponsors and fares from individual participants, according to the forum organizers. Delegates of foreign companies needed to pay 5,000 US dollars each and Chinese business representatives needed to pay 1,500 US dollars.
This forum enables international investors and entrepreneurs toknow more about China, which is very useful for their future investment directions, said Zhao Qizheng, head of the State Council Information Office.
"Companies need to consider strategy, and larger-sized companies gain more from the forum," said Zhao.
Whether the forum is successful cannot be weighed by the numberof business contracts signed, but by new ideas generated, Zhao said.
During the 1999 Fortune Global Forum in Shanghai, a total of contracts involving 7 billion US dollars were signed, Zhao recalled. He declined to comment on whether the Beijing forum was more successful than the Shanghai forum.
China is an investment market which has drawn much attention, and this was why the Fortune Global Forum has been held in China three times, Wolf said.
