World Leaders Hail Success of Shenzhou VI Mission

United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan and a dozen of heads of state, government and political parties in the world on Wednesday congratulated China on the successful Shenzhou VI space mission, hailing the remarkable achievements that China has made in manned space mission, announced the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

 

Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, Secretary-general of the Vietnamese Communist Party Nong Duc Manh, Vietnamese President Tran Duc Luong and Prime Minister Phan Van Khai, Mongolian President Nambaryn Enkhbayar, Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, Camerounian President Paul Biya and Zambian Vice-President Joackim Mwape sent their message of congratulation.

 

They said that China's success in manned space mission represented the development of her comprehensive power and a landmark step in the peaceful exploration of the space by mankind.

 

Brazil, Nepal, Greece, Comoros and Angola also expressed their congratulation through messages, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

 

China sent its second manned spacecraft, Shenzhou VI, carrying two taikonauts into space last Wednesday morning. The re-entry capsule landed safely on Earth on Monday.
