A grand gathering marking the centennial of China's film industry is scheduled to be held in the Great Hall of the People in downtown Beijing on December 28, according to the country's top film administration.
At the gathering, 50 film artists will be honored for their outstanding contributions to the industry.
The gathering will provide an opportunity for reviewing the development of China's film industry and promoting its prosperity, said Zhang Hongsen, deputy director of the film bureau under China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television.
Zhang said the administration is also preparing other commemorative activities, which include a concert, a film exhibition, the inauguration of the first Chinese film museum and the release of a documentary film.
