China is launching its' first box office rankings to mark the 100th anniversary of Chinese movies in 2005.
The announcement was made at a press conference in Beijing Tuesday with big industry names such as Feng Xiaogang and Lu Chuan in attendance.
Jointly sponsored by the Chinese Director's Association, Film Publishing Association and Cinema Association, it's the first of its kind in China.
Also at the meeting, nominations were drawn up for China's Film Billboard Awards to be held in May. Categories include Best Film and Best Actor and Actress. The winners will be decided by a public poll.
