Xinhua News Agency published a signed article Thursday saying the newly enacted Anti-Secession Law is designed to promote peaceful reunification across the Taiwan Straits.

The article, written by Dang Chaosheng, called the enactment of the Anti-Secession law a major move to oppose and check secessionist forces of "Taiwan independence", safeguard China's sovereignty and territorial integrity and peaceful reunification.

The law embodies the central government's policy towards Taiwan and the spirit of governing the state by law, the article said.

The law also shows the utmost sincerity of the central government to try its best for peaceful reunification, the article said.
