Li Shenming, vice president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), said Monday that Deng Xiaoping Theory and the "Three Represents" thought formed on the basis of the theory will be the long-standing banner guiding the Chinese forward.
Deng Xiaoping Theory and the "Three Represents" thought were new development of Marxism and Leninism, as well as Mao Zedong Thought, Li said at a symposium to mark the 100th anniversary of the birthday of late leader Deng Xiaoping.
Some 180 officials and scholars from the CASS leadership, CASS institutes, CASS academic committees and the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee attended the symposium.
As the core of the second generation of the Chinese central leadership and one of the greatest men in Chinese history in the 20th century, Deng developed the basic principles of Marxism and Leninism under the current circumstances in China, and the Chinese people will always remember him, Li said.
Nine CASS scholars presented their latest achievements in the study of Deng Xiaoping Theory at the symposium, which is one of a series of activities to mark the 100th anniversary of Deng's birthday and the 55th founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China.
