27. How can the spread of the infection to chickens and ducks being raised in backyards be stopped?

The backyard poultry areas should be disinfected regularly. Householders should be proactive in cooperating with the monitoring being conducted by the agencies engaged in the work of epidemic surveillance. All chickens and ducks in regions affected by bird flu should be vaccinated. Where a suspected HPAI case is detected, this should be reported to the local animal epidemic prevention authorities and the appropriate measures taken to block off and quarantine the affected location so as to inhibit the spread of the epidemic.
