Cambodia is investigating that if a woman died on Friday would be the first victim of the bird flu in Cambodia, according to an official of the Ministry of Health on Saturday.
The woman, 24, died on Friday in a hospital in neighboring Vietnam. The woman, who has a small family chicken farm, fell ill in Takeo Province which borders Vietnam and was sent to Vietnam on Wednesday.
"The details and reason of her death are not clear now. The authorities are studying and analyzing," said Ly Sovann, director of the Communicable Disease Control Department of the Ministry of Health.
It is the sixth person in Cambodia who is suspected of being infected with bird flu which has already killed 13 people in Vietnam and five in Thailand, but five suspects, tested negative to influenza viruses, have already been excluded.
