Cooked poultry meat and fresh eggs from areas of the Chinese mainland unaffected by the bird flu epidemic are still allowed to be sold to the Hong Kong market, the State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said Thursday.
The deal is based on a consensus between the administration and the Health, Welfare and Food Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, said sources with the administration.
The mainland is a major source of poultry products for Hong Kong.
