The game between China and Puerto Rico was terminated due to a fight when 1:28 was left in the fourth quarter. China finished 91:80.
Puerto Rico made the first field goal and took the lead. Zhu Fangyu sunk a 3-pointer and tied. The Chinese then took of their height advantage to dominate the rebounds and built up a 12-3 lead. As Puerto Rico cut the deficit to 2 when there was 4:21 left in the first quarter, China called a timeout.
After the timeout, Puerto Rico tied the game, but Zhu Fangyu, Wang Bo and center Yi Jianlian again helped China to widen the gap to 4 points. China ended the first quarter 26-24.
In the second quarter, China strengthened their control under the ring. Substitute guard Sun Yue helped China quicken their pace of offence and contributed 6 points in this period. Wang Bo's two free throws helped China to take the lead when there was 0:48 left. A 3-pointer from Zhu Fangyu gave China a 47-43 lead after the first half.
The two sides began to adopt the man-to-man defense at the beginning of the third quarter. China extended the lead and widened the gap to 10 points with 5 minutes left in this period. Zhu Fangyu came good for stretches but soon lost his accuracy and was sidelined later. China's head coach Jonas Kazlauskas again asked his players to focus on the inside play. Center Yi Jianlian scored 6 points in the last 4 minutes of the third period. China led 69-64 to enter the last quarter.
In the fourth period, the Puerto Rico tried to rally with fast breaks. They successfully cut the deficit to 3 with 8:12 left in the fourth quarter, with china leading 71-68. China extended the lead to 7 by Liu Wei's jumper, Puerto Rico called a timeout. After the timeout, China extended the lead to 13. The match finally caused a fight between the players of the two sides and the game was terminated with 1:28 left.
