China Calls for Continuous Efforts in Resolving Korean Nuclear Issue

China called on all parties concerned to continue promoting the process of resolving the Korean nuclear issue in a peaceful way, Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing said Monday.

Addressing the general debate of the 60th session of the UN General Assembly, Li said the fourth round of six-party talks on the Korean nuclear issue concluded in Beijing on Monday with the adoption of an important common statement.

He stressed that this significant step, which reflects the strong political will and unremitting efforts of the six governments involved as well as the common international wishes, should be cherished.

Li called on all parties concerned to continue the cooperation with each other in order to resolve the Korean nuclear issue peacefully through dialogues, and maintain the long-term peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula.

He promised that China will continue to make positive contribution to realize a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula and maintain the long-term peace and stability of the region.
