HK Chief Executive Goes Shopping to Push Spending
Hong Kong Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa joined crowds of residents shopping and having afternoon tea on Saturday, a day after the World Health Organization lifted the travel advisory against Hong Kong.

He bought sports shoes, biscuits, drinks and toys during a walkabout at the Queensway Plaza and Pacific Place, two famous shopping centers in the city.

"Hong Kong had no new SARS cases today," Tung said, adding this was only the first step, "we must remain vigilant."

"Our target is zero cases everyday," he said.

"If we all do our part, the government and the members of the community, that day will come soon," he added.

Asked by reporters weather he was happy, Tung replied that he was delighted to see so many people shopping.

"To revive the Hong Kong economy after this battle against SARS,the most important thing is that Hong Kong people spend in Hong Kong," the chief executive said.
