The Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, one of China's inland areas fighting the fatal SARS outbreak, recently received unique donations from the Macao Special Administration Region.
Ma Man Kei, a vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), wrote a poem to show his respect for medical workers in the nationwide campaign against the disease.
Ma's gift was transferred through the Central Government Liaison Office in Macao.
Stanley Ho, a tycoon of Macao's dominant gambling industry and a member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee, donated 1 million patacas (about 1.03 million yuan or US$124,000) to support the autonomous region's anti-SARS efforts.
So far, Inner Mongolia has received almost 90 million yuan (about US$10.84 million) worth of goods and funds from people of all circles.
