HK Chief Executive Mourns Doctor's Death
Hong Kong Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa said Tuesday that he was deeply saddened to hear the death of doctor Tse Yuen-man of Tuen Mun Hospital, who had been infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).

"She has demonstrated the highest level of professionalism and courage in helping other people. I believe that the whole community will not forget her selfless devotion," Tung said.

"My deepest condolences go to her family at this sad moment," he added.

The female doctor, 35, contracted SARS when treating SARS patients and was hospitalized on April 3.

Secretary for the Civil Services Joseph W.P. Wong said if the doctor's family wishes the government will arrange for her body to be buried in the Gallant Garden.

"I believe we're all saddened here by the death of the doctor in Tuen Mun Hospital. She has given up her life in taking care of the SARS patients. I'm sure we will all show our greatest respect to her," he said.

Lau Wing Kai, a nurse of Tuen Mun Hospital was Hong Kong first health care worker who devoted his life for nursing SARS patients. He was buried in the Gallant Garden on May 7.
