Some 250 thousand senior and primary school students in Hong Kong, aged 12-13 years, have returned to classes after a precautionary closure of six weeks to prevent the spread of SARS.
A local official said all senior and primary schools have resumed classes "smoothly," despite the adoption of stringent SARS-prevention measures, such as temperature checks of students and enforced daily personal hygiene routines.
Junior students aged 11 and below and those in kindergartens aged below seven are to resume classes a week later.
