Oxfam Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Medical Association will co-organize "Walk for Health" on May1 to raise funds for Oxfam's work in assisting marginalized groups to prevent SARS, said Oxfam Hong Kong Thursday.
Participants in the Walk are free to choose their own routes and times for their hike, but are asked to wear a green ribbon as a gesture of support for the event and a wish for health, said the independent development and relief agency based in Hong Kong.
Through the activity, Oxfam Hong Kong hopes to raise funds to assist marginalized groups in their SARS prevention efforts.
Oxfam Hong Kong said it has been closely monitoring the impact of the disease on marginalized groups. It had allocated a fund of 500,000 HK dollars (US$64,103) for applications by community bodies for their efforts in helping marginalized groups in preventing SARS.
