Hong Kong and south China's Guangdong province will strengthen cooperative efforts on Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) control, according to a meeting of medical experts from the two sides that concluded on Friday.
At the two-day meeting held in Guangdong's capital Guangzhou, the two sides agreed to establish an information exchange mechanism which will link governmental departments, disease prevention and control centers, hospitals and research institutes in Guandong with their counterparts in Hong Kong.
Experts from the two sides, 16 from Guangdong and 11 from Hong Kong, exchanged telephone and fax numbers.
The two sides agreed to hold a second meeting on SARS control in Hong Kong in mid-May.
