Red Poppy Ladies' Percussion Ensemble

Founded in 1999, Red Poppy became the first lady percussion music team in China. All artists of the team, average age of 21, have professional training for many years and are distinctive on music experience. Red Poppy aims to create her particular artistic form and music style that combines both Chinese tradition and the sense from new world, and after years' music experience, she has built up her high-level quality and elegant repertoire and created her music to be an aural-visual featured stage presentation.


In 2001 Red Poppy had her explosion incidentally when first showed up her beat at Chinese Spring Festival Evening Show through China Central Television which drew the audience attention at once like a "Black Horse". From then on, Red Poppy frequently appears in many big events and different city TV station.

Since her establishment, over 600 performances had been given so far in different venues and classical events. Red Poppy has toured many countries such as UK, USA, Canada, Singapore, South Africa...

In 2004, Red Poppy released "Noisy World", their first new album in 5 years, which received surprisingly good reviews.

In Feb.2004 Red Poppy gave her awesome special concert in the concert hall of Sydney Opera in Australia. Diplomat from Chinese Embassy in Australia gave a high praise: "Red Poppy strikes out great ambitions of Chinese people; it represents super passion and charm of contemporary Chinese women, it gives significant contributions to harmonious and balanced Chinese culture."


In September 2004, Red Poppy was awarded to "The World Peace" prize which was held in Seoul, Korea. It was regarded as "World Cultural Olympic" cultural competitions.
