German and French leaders said in Berlin Thursday that their countries will not accept the current form of a UN Security Council resolution on Iraq proposed by Washington.

After meeting with French President Jacques Chirac in Dresden, German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder said the US proposal is "not sufficient and dynamic".

Chirac said, "We are still very, very far from a resolution, which we can all support".

The resolution misses the most important goal, "namely the transfer of government power to Iraqis", the French president added.

Schroeder stressed that the two countries closely consult with each other on the issue of Iraq and will take "concerted action" as before the war.

According to reports reaching here, Washington has submitted to the UN Security Council a draft resolution in which the international community will play a larger role in Iraqi affairs, while the United States retains military control and dominates the reconstruction.
