The office of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Tehran declared on Sunday that 23truckloads of basic goods are to be dispatched to Iraq via Iran incompliance with its relief program for Iraqi children and women.
The office said in a press release that in line with provision of the basic requirements of the Iraqi people, the relief packages would be delivered in two separate convoys to Iraq on Monday.
The first convoy consists of 12 trucks carrying 264 tons of aluminum sulfate and another four trucks with 80 tons of clothing, powdered milk and educational facilities.
Given the great demand for healthy potable water in Baghdad, the aluminum sulfate will be used to purify water to provide the Iraqis with healthy drinking water, the press release said.
The second convoy of five trucks carrying 80 tons of sanitary goods, water and environment purification equipment as well as two trucks carrying 40 tons of basic home appliances will leave for Basra Tuesday.
In cooperation with Iran, UNICEF has dispatched numerous convoys of fresh water, high-protein biscuits, edible salt packs, sanitary products and educational kits to Iraq during the US-led war in the country and afterwards.
