A US Marine was killed and three others were injured on Wednesday while clearing mines in Iraq, US Central Command (Centcom) said.
An Iraqi fire department technician accompanying the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force troops was also injured in the blast in Karbala, some 100 km south of Baghdad, Centcom said in a statement.
The injured were taken to a nearby medical facility and the names of the Marines involved were being withheld pending notification of relatives, it added.
More than 65 US soldiers have been killed in ambushes or accidents in Iraq since US President George W. Bush declared the major fighting in the country over on May 1, according to US military tally.
