US Army Vehicles Attacked in South Baghdad
A US military convoy was attacked on Tuesday near Baghdad airport by a rocket-propelled grenade, leaving a US soldier lightly wounded, the US military said.

The attack, on a highway close to the Baghdad international airport, was one of the latest strikes against US forces despite a crackdown on armed resistance in Baghdad and areas to the north.

US convoys traveling on the same highway have been recently targeted on several occasions.

The US military, which has about 156,000 soldiers in Iraq, started on Sunday to launch Operation Desert Sidewinder to stamp out attacks from Iraqis.
