Romania on Friday sent 55 chemical defense troops and a large amount of nuclear, chemical and biological defense equipment to the Gulf region, the National Defense Ministry said.
The non-combat troops will provide biological and chemical protection to troops and civilians, fix water facilities and clear pollution in the battlefield, ministry spokesperson Gelaledin Nezil said.
Parliament on Feb. 12 approved the deployment of 278 troops in the Gulf region, including 70 nuclear, biological and chemical defense troops.
