Bulgaria Expects US Aid for Iraq War Support
Bulgaria is expecting at least US$20 million in economic aid from the United States for its participation in the US-led coalition against Iraq, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Solomon Passy said on Monday.

Passy said Bulgaria should get at least US$20 million from the US$310 million the United States plans to extend to 15 countries taking part in the war coalition against Iraq.

Bulgaria, a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, is among the more than 40 countries the United States has listed as supporters of its military strikes against Iraq, which began on March 20.

The Bulgarian parliament gave a green light to the United States on Feb. 7 to use Bulgaria's airspace and the Sarafovo airport, and deploy about 400 US ground troops in the east European country.
