At least 10 to 12 US soldiers were killed Sunday in northern Iraq in a "friendly fire" incident when their convoy was attacked by a US warplane, the BBC reported.
According to the report, a convoy of eight or 10 cars in northern Iraq was on its way to a place which has recently been captured by the coalition forces.
"It was an American plane, dropped the bomb right beside us, I saw it landing about 10-12 feet (about four meters) away," said the BBC reporter.
All the vehicles are on fire after being attacked. Bodies of the American troops were also seen burning.
A senior Kurdish political figure was also believed to be among the wounded, possibly killed, said the report.
The location where the incident occurred was not identified immediately.
