Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Nikolay G Shevchenk on Sunday said Russia supports the UN resolution on Iraq and Russia would extend its humanitarian help to the people of Iraq through the world body.
He also said the innocent people of Iraq remain the most vulnerable target in the war and the situation is "very near to the humanitarian catastrophe," according to the official Bangladesh News Agency.
Many people including women and children are killed and wounded and there is an acute shortage of foodstuffs and drinking water while the "threat of epidemics is looming," he added.
He said Russia has already set up a camp for refugees in compliance with the UN requirement.
The US mass bombings on Iraq's oil fields can cause earthquakes in the Northern Caucasus, Turkey, Iran and Armenia, he added.
The Russian Ambassador categorically denied the America's allegation of Russia supplying military hardware to Iraq, describing it as baseless.
