Dhaka to Mobilize Internal Resource to Face Iraq War Impact
Bangladeshi Finance Minister M Saifur Rahman Sunday said the Iraq War posed a threat to the country's future economy, making it crucial for the government to strengthen internal resource mobilization through increased revenue collection.

"The Iraq war will affect several donors forcing them to cut assistance for countries like Bangladesh," the minister told reporters after a lengthy meeting here with the Revenue Reforms Commission.

He said that the situation was prompting Bangladesh to strengthen its efforts to intensify internal resource mobilization through efficient and increased collection of revenues.

Without elaborating, Saifur Rahman said, the commission highlighted the issues of administrative and legal reforms for improved efficiency in revenue collection mainly through tax collection.
