Turkish Villagers Protest Against US War in Iraq
Turkish villagers on Saturday protested US war against Iraq when US military officers came to the region to collect parts of a cruise missile fired astray, reported the Anatolian News Agency.

The villagers protested US war against Iraq by throwing eggs sandstones to the vehicles of the US military personnel, and chanted slogans against the United States and its military action against Iraq.

Turkish gendarme forces intervened to put an end to the protest.

A 10-member US delegation arrived in the village to take four parts of a Tomahawk missile, which on Friday fell by mistake in a field near the Dagyani village in the southeastern province of Sanliurfa.

Later, the experts started their examination in the field before carrying the remnants to the Incirlik Air Base in the southern province of Adana for further investigation.

This is the third time that a Tomahawk cruise missile has mistakenly fallen into southeastern Turkey since the United States launched the war on March 20.

Under a parliament decision on March 20, Turkey opened its airspace to allow passage of US war planes to Iraq on bombardment mission.

The United States may also fire cruise missiles from the Mediterranean sea at Iraqi targets via Turkish space.
