Another Five US Ships Enter Suez Canal en Route to Gulf
Another five US ships carrying military supplies entered the Suez Canal on Wednesday en route to the Gulf.

The ships from the Mediterranean would pass through the canal to the Red Sea before midnight Wednesday, Suez Canal sources said.

The Pentagon last Saturday was forced to scrap the plan of deploying 62,000 troops on the Turkish soil to open the "northern front" after Ankara refused to cooperate, and ordered more than 20cargo ships docked off the coast of Turkey to sail through the Suez Canal to the Gulf.

In the past few days, 18 other US ships had already passed south through the Suez Canal to the Gulf. The cargo ships were loaded with military supplies for the US 4th Infantry Division.

It usually takes a ship at least five days to sail from the Red Sea to the Gulf.
