Chilean Foreign Minister Soledad Alvear announced in Santiago on Saturday that her country and the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) have launched a joint fund-raising campaign to help the Iraqi children.
At a joint press conference with Egidio Crotti, UNICEF representative for Argentina, Chile and Uruguay, Alvear said the campaign "Let's Help the Iraqi Children," started on Saturday and will last till April 30.
The foreign minister said the campaign had been announced to the public through posters, radios and newspapers and all the donations would be handed over to UNICEF.
She called on all Chileans to donate to show their solidarity with the Iraqi children who are suffering from the war.
