Iraqi military forces had confronted the invading American and British forces in many locations across the country, said Iraqi military spokesman early Saturday.
Iraqi forces repelled coalition forces trying to carry out landing operations in Al-Walid airbase in Al-Nakhib area west of Iraq and Thura area north-west Baghdad, Iraq's official INA news agency quoted the spokesman as saying.
Iraq had fired several home-made missiles at Kuwaiti targets, he said, adding that Iraqi naval forces also attacked coalition forces positions in Kuwait.
Iraqi forces fired home-made missiles of Al-Samoud-1, Tareq and Al-Fateh types at the formations of the enemy in Barqa area, Ali-Alsalem airbase and the positions of the enemy, the spokesman said.
He further said that the invading US and British forces came under Iraqi fire in Al Fao Peninsula.
The US and British coalition forces launched "shock and awe" operations Friday evening, with ground forces driving through desert in southern Iraq to Baghdad.
