The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) will defend Turkey against any attacks by neighboring Iraq, George Robertson, chief of the world's largest military bloc, said Thursday after the United States launched an attack on Iraq.
Ambassadors to NATO's decision-making North Atlantic Council expressed their determination to fulfill their treaty obligation to a member nation under threat after assessing the situation with regard to Turkey, Robertson said in a statement.
