China has become the second largest destination for the overseas investment of the Republic of Korea (ROK), said ROK ambassador Kim Ha Joong July 12, 2002.
This fact was proven by the statistics released from the Chinese side, Kim said, which show that by June of this year, ROK's investment in China totaled US$12 billion.
He compared the ROK-China trade volume of 1992 when ROK and China forged diplomatic ties with that of last year, saying the figure has jumped from US$6.4 billion to US$31.5 billion.
Moreover, he said China has become the largest traveling destination country for ROK nationals.
There are over 330 flights linking six ROK cities and 26 cities of China every week, he said, adding 2.3 million people from both countries visited the other countries last year and the figure was merely 90,000 in 1992.
