Hong Kong held a symposium on Monday to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the recovering of Taiwan.
Dozens of scholars from Taiwan and Chinese mainland, Taiwan compatriots living in Hong Kong and representatives from Hong Kong various walks of life attended the symposium.
They believed that Taiwan's recovery indicated that Taiwan is an inseparable part of China, Taiwan compatriots made great contributions in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and close links between the mainland and Taiwan.
Tsen Chien Min, president of Taiwan research society of social sciences, said at the symposium that the history of Taiwan's recovering 60 years ago fully proved the evidence of "One China".
He strongly criticized the separatist forces in Taiwan, who have been trying to affect and change Taiwan people's sense of history, in a bid to realize their ambition of "building a country independently."
Yau Ying Wah, a descendent of a anti-Japanese hero, said at the meeting that to commemorate the 60th anniversary of recovering Taiwan, the important thing is to carry on the fine patriotism condition of Taiwan compatriots and realize the reunification of the motherland.
Zhang Nianchi, president of Shanghai Research Institute of East Asia, said the "Taiwan independence" has no way out and nobody can hinder the trend of reunification of the motherland.
Stephen Lam, Hong Kong secretary for Constitutional Affairs, said the reunification of the motherland would benefit all Chinese including Taiwan compatriots.
He said Taiwan could have much more room for development in economy and many other fields.
Li Guikang, vice director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong, said the commemorating of the recovering anniversary is of great importance to carry on the great national spirit with patriotism at the core.
He said it is also of great importance for enhancing the process of reunification of motherland.
