A luncheon was held Thursday to mark the 60th anniversary of China's victory in the war of resistance against Japanese aggression and the victory of the world's war against Fascism.
About 3,000 guests attended the luncheon including member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Tsang Hin-chi, Vice President of All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese Zhuang Sai-ping, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong Li Gang and 32 war heroes.
Born in 1911, Zhuang Sai-ping participated and has rendered great support to the motherland in the war against Japanese aggression. He and a number of attendees delivered a speech during the luncheon.
"I felt lucky to have the chance to witness China's victory in the war," he said, "especially I can see 60 years after the victory, China has become so prosperous and advanced".
Tsang Hin-chi said that when commemorating this unforgettable day, people should rise up to pay effort to help build the country and make contribution to it.
Apart from the luncheon, a premiere of a commentary about the history of Hong Kong being occupied by Japanese troops was held on Thursday afternoon.
