A car bomb struck a US military convoy in central Baghdad on Tuesday, killing and wounding dozens of people, police said.
"A car bomb blew up at around 1:00 p.m. (0900 GMT) in Baghdad's.
Tahrir Square, a crowded commercial area, targeting a US military convoy," a police source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
The casualties were not immediately known, but the source said that dozens of people were killed or wounded.
A US Humvee was destroyed in the attack along with about 15 civilian cars, the source added.
The US military had no immediate comment on the incident.
