The Tibet Autonomous Region has fixed five river basins in the region as key areas for the prevention of pollution.
The rivers include Yarlung Zangbo River, Lhasa River, Nyang Qu River, Yalong River and Niyang River. The population in these river basins accounts for 57 percent of total in Tibet.
The area is also relatively advanced in terms of economic and industrial development.
However, environmental pollution in the area has become more and more serious over the past few years.
