Jacqeline Loisi de Larderel, the Assistant Executive Director of UNEP and the director of the Division of Technology, Industry and Economics was awarded on February 19 an honorary certificate for international cooperation in environmental protection by Xie Zhenhua, director of the State Environmental Protection Administration.
She is one of the key figures who are bent on promoting clean production in the world. Thanks to her efforts, China came under the attention of UNEP for clean production a decade ago. When China established its clean production center in 1994, she helped it establish ties with the world. As a member of the clean production team of the China Environment and Development International Cooperation Committee, she has made valuable policy proposals to the Chinese government.
In her speech, she thanked the Chinese government for this honor. She said that what she has done is just what she should do in her capacity. In her cooperation with the Chinese government and environmentalists, she herself has learned a lot and established profound friendship with them. She said that she will continue to work hard to contribute her share to environmental protection in China.
