On Wednesday a couple of white lions settled down in the Nanchang zoo in the capital city of east China's Jiangxi Province after leaving their home in Africa.
This photo, published on Thursday, January 17, 2008 shows workers carrying a lion cage into the Nanchang Zoo.
The female lion is one-year old and the male is less than three. They were purchased by the city zoo for 500,000 yuan or about US$69,000.
A product of a genetic mutation, the white lion is a subspecies of the African lion, with an endangered population of less than 30 globally, even fewer than that of the Giant Panda.
The zoo is planning to solicit public opinions for naming the lion couple.
