Situated in central Jiangsu Province, the Dafeng National Nature Reserve for Elks covers 78,000 hectares of wetland. It is known as the "hometown of elks in China". In 2002 it is listed on the category of world's important wetlands.
Thanks to increasing improvement of shelterbelts along the sea, the ecological environment of the nature reserve is well protected. The elk number has increased from 39 to 706.
The nature reserve has become a beautiful kingdom for birds, insects, fishes etc.
