Corrective jaw surgery was carried out on a 6-year-old female monkey in Chengdu of Sichuan Province on Tuesday.
Imitating such surgery on human beings, the procedure was aimed to correct problems that some people suffer, such as being unable to properly chew or shut their mouths.
It is said to be the first time a monkey has had such surgery, the China West Metropolis News reports.
