Source from Beijing Municipal Committee of Communication says Beijing will upgrade all its public buses to environmental-friendly ones by the year 2008.
Liu Xiaoming, an official from the committee, says the city has a total of 18,000 public buses, many of which have been used for ten years.
He says they can't meet the Euro III standard, which is the international standard on vehicles' emission control.
According to Liu, more effort will be put into reducing traffic jams, and improving the city's public transportation network by 2008.
