China's biggest ever desalinization project is to be built in Zhoushan city, in east China's Zhejiang Province.
Fifty million yuan (about US$6 million) have been invested in the project, which will desalinize 10,000 ton sea water each day.
The first phase of the project is expected to be completed next year.
Zhoushan is one of the most water-starved cities in China. The new project could help ease the numerous problems associated with water shortages in the city.
