Having missed the trains for the Cannes and Venice film festivals, director Peter Chan simply couldn't stand his latest opus --
Warlords missing next year's Academy Awards.
The director announced Tuesday in Beijing that his film would apply for next year's best foreign film Oscar nomination. And, to reach the requirement of Oscars, he has to finish the post-editing work in a mere one month, so that it can be screened in some theaters for seven consecutive days.
According to the Star Daily's Wednesday reports, it has taken Peter Chan, also director of "Perhaps Love", over four months to edit his war story. And now he has to race against time to ensure that his film can enter the Oscar nomination race. Applications are set to end on September 30.
Peter Chan assembled three of Asia's hottest male leads Andy Lau, Jet Li and Takeshi Kaneshiro, and rising mainland actress Xu Jinglei in this 40-million-dollar work. Filming was finished in May, and the feature is slated for release in December.
