Students Compete for Places of Arts College
Adjust font size:

Chaos unsued after more than 3,000 aspiring young actors turned up to register for the entrance exam at the National Academy of Chinese Theater Arts on Wednesday.

The Academy was caught unprepared for the masses of aspiring applicants as it only plans to offer 60 places this year. They had to call the police in to keep the order.

One young woman called Wang spent 8 hours waiting to register for the entrance exam.

"I arrived here at 8 o'clock in the morning, but I have just signed up now," she complained as she left the library where the registration process was taking place.

But Wang was one of the lucky ones. Many of the aspiring students were unable to complete the registration process at all. The Academy will extend the registration period for another day to provide all candidates with the chance to register for the entrance exam.

The massive turn-out occurred in part because many students sit for a number of entrance exams to provide themselves with the largest possible choice of higher learning institutions after they finish high school.

The National Academy of Chinese Theater Arts is one of the arts colleges that hold entrance exams before the universities.
