Visiting Beijing this week was Doctor Hans-Georg Knopp, an expert in Arab and Indian cultures who has devoted himself to Asian cultural studies for more than thirty years. As the Director of The House of World Culture in Berlin, he works tirelessly to protect and promote world cultures.
Dr Knopp was at this year's International Cultural Forum in Beijing this week. He took part in the discussion on "how to establish a dialogue between Chinese and European cultures".
Dr Knopp was proud to talk about the unique work of the House of World Cultures promoting cultural diversity, cultural exchange, and cross-cultural understanding. One of the organization's activities, the Transonic Arts Festival, brought new music from Asia and Africa to a European audience. The House of World Cultures provides direct support for minor artists and hopes to act as a mentor to other cultural organizations. Dr Knopp also shows an interest in traditional Chinese music.
