A national conference on the prevention of juvenile crime as well as comprehensive management of public security on campuses and the surrounding areas was convened in Shanghai, China's largest metropolis, on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Luo Gan, member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Political Bureau, made a speech at the meeting, highlighting the importance of the prevention of juvenile crime for maintaining social stability and fostering qualified builders and successors of China's socialist cause.
Luo, who also heads the Central Committee for Comprehensive Management of Public Security, urged Party committees and governments of different levels to pay great priority to the issue and further mobilize all social circles to care, support and actively participate in the job.
State-councilor Zhou Yongkang, who is vice director of the Central Committee for Comprehensive Management of Public Security, also wrote instructions and called for creating a sound social environment for the healthy growth of youth, by doing the job of preventing juvenile crimes well.
Gu Xiulian, vice chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, and vice director of the Central Committee for Comprehensive Management of Public Security, addressed the conference.
