May is almost here, bringing with it hot weather and a heated season of drama. Over in Shanghai, in east China, stage actors are busy rehearsing some foreign classics to entertain theater-goers throughout the coming month.
A Lonely Sunday for Creve Coeur is expected to be another smash for the center when it hits the stage mid-May. Several veteran actresses will give the Chinese rendition of the Tennessee Williams play, which follows the interactions of four women on a certain maddening Sunday.
Occupying another hall is Love Conquers Everything. The French contemporary comedy explores questions about love and human existence. Examining the cross-sections of people's life over three centuries, the play is both entertaining and thought-provoking.
Other productions to hit the Shanghai stage this May include Waiting for Godot, Ninety Three, and Copenhagen.
