PTU Takes Six Golden Bauhinia Awards

Hong Kong Film Critics Associated announced the winners of the 9th Golden Bauhinia Awards on Sunday. Johnnie To Kei-Fung's stylish cop drama, PTU, was the biggest winner of the day, sweeping six awards.

A galaxy of stars, all dressed in their finest, showed up to the Hong Kong affair. The sequel to last year's huge hit Infernal Affairs failed to make much of an impact. And the day belonged to the less-hyped PTU which took home six awards, including Best Picture. Simon Yam Yat-Wah beat Andy Lau to the Best Actor award, thanks to his excellent performance in PTU.

Hong Kong Actor Simon Yam said, "The movie was well-received by audience, not only in China but also in the US, France and Japan. But of course critics' reviews vary from place to place. I attribute this award to director Johnnie To Kei-Fung, because he gave me this most complicated and difficult of characters, which many actors dream of playing. So I am grateful to him."

Cecilia Cheung snatched Best Actress, but didn't make the ceremony due to being in Beijing working on her latest film.
